Camp Bestival gets its licence
Camp Bestival has been given its drinks licenceĀ despite opposition from locals. Camp Bestival which is a weekend event is set to attract 11,000 people to Lulworth Castle between July 18th and 20th and has Kate Nash as a headliner.
Rob Da Bank who is the event organiser applied for the one of licence which had objections from the local people who live on the estate as well as councillors
The police said for the event to go ahead there had to be strict conditions including an alternative plan if the weather is bad as well as information packs to all the people who live on the estate including contact details for the organiser! (i can just see someone phoning up and asking them to turn the noise down!!)

The castle grounds were the venue for the Big Chill festival seven years ago. many residents who remember that were totally opposed to this larger event. though there were some residents at the same meeting were particularly enthusiastic about the festival, which has had considerable national publicity and is, with features including a knitting tent and a WI tea tent, described as one of the more quirky on the festival calendar.
