2010 sees a big year for Global Gathering as they celebrate 10 years of Global Gathering. As per usual there are a lot of acts confirmed to play. No Arena information has been revealed but i can make out Bedrock and Polysexual at the bottom of the poster. dj’s to play include Paul Oakenfold, Armin Van Burren, Carl Cox, Above And Beyond.

Last year they had the Boom Box, no mention of that this year but we can wait and see. Lineup in poster form below

Global Gathering 2010 Lineup

2010 marks the 10th anniversary for Global Gathering which has its home in Stratford upon Avon. Global has also fiercely battled with Creamfiields to become the countries best dance music festival, It is the favourite of a lot of people.

This year they have announced the first of the headliners. The first headliner is Faithless, not a massive surprise as if you are celebrating 10 years of a festival you need the best and in my opinion Faithless are the best you can get for a festival. Ive seen them before and they will make the weekend very special and no doubt sell those tickets a little faster!

The second headliner is Dizzy Rascal, last year Dizzy was performing at Creamfields which unfortunately suffered from the rain, This year i would expect the rain to be at bay ready for Dizzy to wow the crowds at Global. A couple of years ago Global put on Kanye West and to say the least i was very disappointed, Dizzy however is different in my eyes, He has lots of dance music elements in his music that crosses over very well. Armin Van Helden has had an influence on his last album producing some of the music being rapped over (bonkers was the first)

Global Gathering 2010 Headliners

Global Gathering is one day away and as per usual they have released a weather forcat podcat!! Mr Fish last year did a podcast in a I Love Techno podcast T-shirt which then was one of the GG merchandise T-shirts. This year The fish is back and he has a new T-Shirt!!

Global Gathering kicks of tomorrow night for all the people wanting to camp with Saturday being open to the general public as well. Last year my personal preference was that the Friday was much better, the atmosphere was much better and there were a lot less idiots walking round the event!

Global Gathering…. 1 Day To Go

It has been announced that in 2009 Global gathering will be introducing a live stage to the festival. The live stage will be hosting… you guessed it live bands! For me this seems to be Global Gathering taking Creamfields idea of having a live band and then taking it to far.  Last year Creamfields had Kasabian as their headline act and it was something that was a big shock, as a Band has has never headlined a music festival. 

This year global have got a stage dedicated to it!; Don’t get me wrong it wouldn’t stop me going to global because if you don’t like it then there are plenty of other options for you but every year all the festivals start getting closer, if it goes on much longer it will be like politics, All the parties have different names but when its their turn to shine there just the same as the last one.

Global Gathering 2009 – Live Stage

Global Gathering have announced their lineuup for 2009 and there is a lot of it with some big names missing!, Wealready new a couple of the names because of the game they always release however this is a complete listing for Global gathering 2009. Global Gathering is held in stratford upon avon on an air field and is packed out every year. You can expect house, trance, techno, hard dance and D&B.

You can camp for the weekend at the event including Cloud 9 camping and VIP camping.

Global Gathering 2009 – Lineup

You can probably tell from reading my blog that my favourite two festivals are Global Gathering and Creamfields, Well both festivals have have released new websites and both festivals have revealed the dates they will be revealing the lineups!

Global Gathering will be announcing their lineup first this year and the announcement will be on this Friday the 27th March at Midday. If you head over to the Global Gathering website you will be able to play a teaser game to find out some of the Dj’s that will be performing at the festival.

Creamfields have also announced the date they will be revealing the lineup, They will be announcing their lineup the Friday after on Friday 3rd April, for both festivals i will be waiting with baited breath to bring you the lineups as fast as possible.

Festival Lineup Annoncements Dates

Now ive spoken about festival food in the past and how good it has got, As the 2009 festival season starts to reveal some of its lineup it go me thinking of Festival Food! When i first went to festivals the food option was pretty bad. You used to have the choice of burgers and chips or if you fancied you could also stretch for a Hotdog! After the first year they stretched to a chinese van though the price of the chinese food was through the roof!

Now however, the food at festivals is a lot better, Global Gathering this year had a “Village” with lots of places to go and eat, they had lots of vans which catered for everyone from meat eaters to vegans, they had chinese, they had salad bars burger vans and steak tents.

I found that at Creamfields they had a better array than that! They had all the same vans as Global and when i say the same i mean the exact same vans, they must do the rounds of the festivals! Creamfields also had a kind of Foods of the world area, Basically there were no fancy vans it was just a tent and some catering equipment and some of the best festival food around. I personally went for the olives, a little pricey but a massive range of choice, Next to this was the “Hog Roast” the hog roast was awesome carved straight  from the caucus of the pig though it wasn’t a good sight for any vegetarians! Finally they had a Spanish stand, they had potato dishes which i guess would be potato bratas as well as paella dishes cooked in those massive flat pans you see, there was around 3/4 different flavours of paella, however i didn’t have any as it seemed to be the wrong thing for me to eat in the middle of a festival!

Festival Food

Orbital have announced on their blog that they will be performing at this years Global Gathering on long marsden airfield on the 24th and 25th July.

The brothers that formed Orbital back in 1989 said it was the comeback of other groups such as pendulum and the Klaxons that made them think about re grouping. Along with Global Gathering Orbital will be performing at The Big Chill and Rockness in 2009.

After their festival appearences in 2009 they have also aranged a two day tour that will see them performing at the Manchester Accademy on September 19 and Brixton accademy in london on the 25th of September

Global Gathering 2009 have launched their 2009 website. This can only me its getting closer!! 

There is no lineup as of yet for this years festival but the site has videos of last years festival as well as news and information. As always their is the forum and they are utilising social media to the max with facebook profiles as well as Myspace, Youtube, Bebo and so on.

At the moment they also have  25% off all merchandise so if you went last year and didnt get that T-Shirt you wanted then you now have the chance. 

Global Gathering 2009 is on Friday 24th and Saturday 25th of June tickets are priced at £126 for standard weekend camping and £186 for VIP camping though this is a limited early bird price.

Global Gatheing 2009

Global Gathering this year was held some time in June (the weekend is a bit fuzzy for myself!!) i do remember it being the only hot weekend of the year as i had the sunburn to prove it!! The people over on the Global Gathering Forum as well as one of the modorators have arranged the 25th October to be the Global gathering Reunion party. im not to sure how officil it is as it not advertised for that but if you went and you followed the forum then you will know it is happening, The 25th october id the annual halloween party at Air (it is a Godskitchen night) and it is a pimps and whores fancy dress night. if you are interested then you can buy your tickets in advance.
