Rockness is a dance music festival held on the banks of Loch Ness in Scotland, Its been running for a few years now and is the idea of Norman Cook (Fat Boy Slim) who started it up after the was pulled on his Big Beach Boutique events in Brighton.

2008 was a rainy event but i spoke to a few people at other festivals that went there andnthey said it was a brilliant festival to go to. As with all festivals they always strive to be better every year and i have no doubt Rockness will be follwing the same rules.

Tickets for the event are already on sale at £55 for day ticket or £45 for the Friday, and £105 for 2 days. If you want a to be there for the whole 3 days then its £130 for a 3 day non camping ticket. If you want to camp over while you are there then it will cost you £122 for 2 days (Sat + Sun)  or £139 for 3 day camping which works out at it costing £9 to camp there if you stay the 3 days!

Rockness 2009

Orbital have announced on their blog that they will be performing at this years Global Gathering on long marsden airfield on the 24th and 25th July.

The brothers that formed Orbital back in 1989 said it was the comeback of other groups such as pendulum and the Klaxons that made them think about re grouping. Along with Global Gathering Orbital will be performing at The Big Chill and Rockness in 2009.

After their festival appearences in 2009 they have also aranged a two day tour that will see them performing at the Manchester Accademy on September 19 and Brixton accademy in london on the 25th of September

Its a Global Orbit

Another festival that was in full flow last weekend was the party held by Fat Boy Slim on the banks of Loch Ness in stotland, A busy weekend in Scotland!! Bit a different music policy that the trance and hard dance pounding Coloursfest, Fatboy slim brings his own style to a party with him that very few people have every replicated.

And a bit of Born Slippy for good luck!!

Unfortunately the weather leaves a lot to de desired as the BBC are forcasting cloud and rain for the festival which is organised and stars Fat Boy Slim.

Rockness Weather

This year at Rockness you have the option to camp for the weekend if you like. A weekend ticket for the event costs £100 with a weekend ticket with camping costing £115. The campsite will open at 9am on friday 6th. If you want to take a camper van with you then you will need to buy a campervan ticket and there will be directions towards the site as to where your campervan site is.

If you dont bother getting a camping ticket but take your tent anyway for some reason then you will be able to buy a campingg pitch on the day when you arrive as long as there is space on the site. You can take your own food and drink with you to the camp site as llong as youi dont take any glass with you, any glass will be taken from you.

One thing the organisers have said is that once you have entered the camp site complex in your car,  you cant then keep driving in and out. Once you have enetered then you stay untill you leave to go home. there will be no re admittance.

The campsite will have its own food stalls that will be cheaper than in the festival itself that will be openn from early morning to late night. There will also be enetertainment in the campsite brought to you buy Rob Da Bank and its called Nesstival. this will be an entertainment area in the campsite that will open at 12 noon on the friday to keep you entertained till the main event!

Rockness is the brainchild of Norman Cook AKA Fat Boy Slim. This guy knows how to throw a party! Remember Big Beach Boutique? well he’s not aloud to do that any more after so many people tried to go to the event so now he throws parties on the bank of Loch Ness in Scotland This event will take place Saturday June 7th and Sunday June 8th.
