The chemical Brothers have released a statement explaining why they didnt perform at last weekends Gatecrasher Festival. In my optionion it shouldnt need explaining but for the dim people that have been demanding refunds because the Chemical brothers didnt bother showing upm they have released the statement.

Basically it says that they were unable to play due to high winds and rain which was blowing directly onto the stage, yet people at the event believed that they jsut didnt bother turning up, Personnaly i wouldnt want to be surrounded by electrical equipment in the rain!

They said they would have  moved to atent to perform but because of the saftey fears of the crowd this was not possible.

I thought i would bring the bad news before i post about the good, but this weekend a man was found dead in his tent at Gatecrasher Summer Sound Sysytem. The man who is yet un named was found in his tent on saturday. The police do not thinkthe middle aged man had died because he had taken any drug’s, a postmortem is due to be carried out.

The festival also hit more bad luck on the sunday when the main stage was closed to to bad weather, this meant that Hot Chip and the headliners of the festival the Chemical Brothers had theire sets cancelled! Guted!

Summer Sound System CD

With May justa round the corner this means that Gatecrasher Summer Sound System is also just around the corner! We know they now have their licence to party and i expect it will be one hell of a party! With live acts including The Prodigy Live and more dj’s than you can shake a stick at, this two day partython is set to fly. the festival had its day at the start of the noughties (year 2000) but it then faded away to nothing, now its back it remains to see if it can be what it once was. i certianly hope it is so lets just hope it dosent rain!

Win Tickets for The Summer Sound System

Its only a month away and Gatecrashers has now been given the go ahead by the local council after locals raised concerns about the festival. This follows on from other festival news i heard recently that Creamfields has not yet been granted a licence for its 2 day event this Auguist bank holiday.

What would happen though if these festivals were told No? well the clubbing world would go into mourning as if it happened in one place it might happen in other places but then you woulsd have 1000’s of people having forked out money and maybe made arrangement then being told its all off because it was all organised without anything actually being confirmed?

My question is why do they have to do that? Is there a reason why the festival has been given the go ahead a month before it meant to happen, if it was pulled it wouldnt be enough time to re organise elseware is it?

I know one thing for sure, id sleep a little better knowing my hard earned money has paid for something that has already been given the go ahead!

Gatecrasher Given the Go Ahead

Mark Ronson and Hot Chip have been added to the lineup for Gatecrasher Summer Sound System 2008. They will be playing along side acts such as the Prodigy and the Chemical Brothers, The summer Sound Syste, this year is held on the 24th and 25th of May.
