Creamfields 2008 – Review

So as you might know i took a visit to Creamfields Sunday just gone (all in the name of research!) and have to say on a whole it was probably the best creamfields i have been to for a long time.

The day started with a short taxi ride down the motorway to Daresbury were the site was, getting there for 11.30 meant there wasn’t many people in the queue, The first thing we noticed however was the MUD! Good job i had my wellies on.

once we had put our pockets in a clear bag and been searched and had a sniffer dog sniff my balls we were in and headed straight for some food,

The food this year was great, you could have anything from chinese to Mexican, the steak van made an appearance as well as an olive stall a hog roast and a nice selection of piella! of corse you had your typical range of greease in a bun our country does so well! Wash all that down with a Pims and were set to party.

We headed over to the bbc introducing bus which showcased new talent and straight away the music was pounding, with the site only just opened the crowd of people was sparse but everybody was loving it.

The day carried on at quite a relaxed pace taking in a bit of the Swedish House Mafia Tent and then making our way to see a bit of Sander Van Doorn. After a brief spell there it was time for Deadmau5. he played a quality set with his head making a couple of appearances! he had a good mix of star 69 in his set and he played his own tune that went down a storm.

It was time for a bit of a chill at this point and another 5 beers, the queue for the bank machine was 45 mins long so the oppertunity was taken to get more cash by some of us, the rest of us went back infront of the introducing bus for the LMP Dj’s who were really really good! a random guy gathered a massive crowd for a group photo which i would love a copy of if anyone got one.

By this time the day was getting on so it was off to see Eddie who surprised me as over the years i have rated him less and less so it was good to hear a decent set from him without to much scratching though his 5 minute god like impression made me wounder why he was doing it.

we knocked about for a bit longer taking in some sun and beer and food for the next hour taking in the atmosphere until Paul Oakenfold graced the decks,  I know he isn’t what he used to be but i always anticipate someone so great, he started off amazing and southern Sun got played to a roaring crowd, he died of though towards the end for me which was disappointing but hey ho.

As Oakenfold drew to an end the tent got busier and busier because Tiesto was on last, i personally didn’t think Tiesto was worth being crammed in a tent for (ive seen him to many times to count now) so we bailed and split up, some guys went to see Kasabian and brought back great reviews, the rest of us saw out the night with the sweedish house Mafia who were superb and a great end to the night, An 11pm finish sounded stupid when it was first announced cause it wasnt late enough but after 11 hours stomping it didnt feel to bad.
