Dont Lose The Music!
The RNID (a charity for the hard Hearing and def) this year conducted a survey round a few festivals including Glastonbury and the reading and Leeds festival. They were surveying to see the effects of loud music in nightclubs and festivals. The results may not be so surprising to many people who expose themselves to loud musi8c on a regular basis.
53% of people questioned believed that loud music has already to some extent damaged their hearing. A high 84% of people questioned said that they have experienced ringing in their ears or a dulling of sound after listening to music. 50% of people have experienced pain in their ears whilst listening to music though only 17% have ever done anything about it.
These are not great statistics looking to the future as it seems everybody is going to be def!
Music at festivals this year reached 110 decibels, That’s the same noise levels as a Jet plane taking off. Repeatedly listening to music at this level can lead to premature and permanent hearing loss.
