As winter approaches there are not too many festivals really to shout about coming up in the near future. However, if you were thinking that the music industry is on a break at the moment, think again, as this is the time when tickets for the biggest summer gigs go on sale.
Glastonbury 2011 tickets may have now gone but there are many festivals and huge outdoor music events to look forward to next year. Tickets are being released all the time – and though we’ll ignore the Take That phenomenon – indie and rock music fans will be glad to hear that Bon Jovi tickets went on sale this week for Manchester, Edinburgh and London, while the Foo Fighters are doing a show in Milton Keynes in July with the tickets released this coming Friday.
When at a festival go easy on the alcohol. You’re going to feel like an idiot if you sleep right through your favorite band, just because you were hung over, or you cant remember it because you were so drunk! Especially on hot summer days, alcohol is a serious dehydrator and you should be staying well-hydrated. and there’s the “loss of self control” thing. Save yourself the embarrassment and cut off at a reasonable level.
Mystery Land for me has always been one of those festivals I would love to do but I don’t feel I ever will. The main reason being its in Holland! The tickets sell out really fast, and in general I think it may cost to much to go.
Dance music festivals in mainland europe are EPIC!! it started a long time ago with Dance Valley, Dance Valley started off the two day dance festival scene, it has a line-up as long as your arm, it has helicopters dropping rose petals onto the crowd!!
Glastonbury this year will be revealing a new stage for the festival. Glastonbury has always played and supported a large amount of musical genres and artists.
The new stage is the Bourbon Street Jazz n Blues stage. I cant say its a genera that i have ever heard off but i had been lucky enough to get a ticket, i would be checking this place out!! Again, the line-up is nobody i know but its all about hearing new things. Bourbon Street Jazz n Blues sounds like a stage with lots of old people playing trumpets! I’m going to do a bit of digging on You Tube today to educate myself!!
Wakestock is one of the cool kids on the block, It doesn’t try and conform to the regular boxed model of a festival, and that’s because its not. Wakestock is a wake boarding festival that also has live music, It also has some of the best Wake boarders in the world.
We had one of our guys there last year and all his reports came back saying it was an amazing festival. You can expect to see the likes of Scratch Perverts and Audio Bullies.
Its only a couple of weeks away, on the 22nd and 23rd of May Radio 1 big weekend will be in Bangor in Wales. I didn’t get a ticket for the Saturday like i applied for but i didn’t really expect to.
Last years event was covered extensively on line and on TV and produced some really good moments including an acoustic performance by Kelly Rowland of When Love Takes Over
In 2010, im sure they will try and improve on last year, The line-up they have released looks really good, I applied for the Saturday and think this was the best day to attend, however sunday will be equally as good, Ill be following it all which ever way i can, i also hope that Radio 1 use their You Tube channel to show the video’s of the event as a lot of the video’s have now been taken down.
The owner of Glastonbury have revealed that Oasis Snubbed playing at Pilton farm last year. A couple of years ago, the organisers set up Jay-Z to headline Glastonbury, this was much to the dis belief of Noel Gallagher who openly voiced his feelings about having a rap star headlining Glastonbury.
It has been revealed that Oasis were then offered to Headline the year after but snubbed Glastonbury to play two dates at the V festival, the second of these dates were cancelled because the band fell out.
Michael Eavis has said that if they reformed, they would never play at Glastonbury in the future, they should have took up his offer in the first place.
Every year there is an amazing festival called Bestival, The brain child of radio 1’s Rob Da Bank, He has constantly created a festival that everyone wants to go to, and when i say everyone, im not talking about your average punter, im also including other artists and performers.
Every year they also have a fancy dress theme, its certainly the biggest fancy dress party i have heard off!! they have had ocean themes in the past and this year the theme is fantastical, its the year of the fantastic fantasy.
as is every year, there will be a prize for the best dressed, and this year that job has fallen to La Roux. She will pick a winner for the best fancy dress of the festival. Im not to sure how she sees them all but im sure she will have fun looking!
