Ticket Fraud
Unfortunately the Internet opens up opportunity to people selling tickets online but the tickets never arrive, Many people have fallen foul this year especially people purchasing tickets for reading and Leeds. Two websites have been identified by the BBC as selling tickets but never delivering them. one of the websites which has a registered owner in Spain now looks like its been taken down with the address of www.sosmasterticket.com, not surprisingly the following message is now on the website.
The second site which is still up and running, claims that everybody has been or is in the process of receiving a refund, the website with the address www.readingfestivaltickets.co.uk looks like a professional outfit which is why people were willing to hand over their money.
A few pieces of advice would be to try and establish if the company selling or the website is registered in the UK, Trading standards cant do anything about these sites if they are in different countries. Google the website! have a look around to see if anyone else had had any experiences, with the power of message boards and blogs you can soon find a bad experience. If you cant find anything at all then again be aware, a website usually has a web presence, if it doesn’t then it suggests that the site has just been set up to sell tickets. Finally go with who you trust, Does the website sell any other tickets? most sites selling genuine tickets will always sell other tickets as its their business. Its easy to be drawn in when an even is sold out and a site is still offering tickets, maybe Leeds and reading need their own ticketing system.
