As a general rule festivals do not have dress codes. You may get a festival like Bestival which will have a fancy dress theme or an event like Sensations white in Holland were everybody co-ordinates what they were but apart from that its completely free.

People sometimes ask me about what to wear to a festival, especially people that have never been. It all goes down to the mud level!! if there could be mud then wellies are a must, if you know the weather is going to be good then obviously summer clothes, Guys clothes are generally the same no matter what but i would try and steer away from the more costly items of clothing, Once you have danced and sweat for 10 hours in your favourite T Shirt then it probably wont be your favourite any more! In 2008 there were plenty of girls in cheap dresses at many of the festivals, non of them looked cheap but speaking to a few they said they went for a range of clothes and made sure everything was cheap because if the event had mud then the clothes will be ruined. If you plan to go to a festival and you know there will be mud there then cheap clothes are a definite must, As i said if you go to a muddy festival your clothes will be ruined and thrown away!
